Qualifications
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the healthcare sector with people who have the skills and knowledge for the general maintenance of health and lifestyle using traditional Māori medicine practices and philosophies.
Graduates of this qualification:
- will have a broad range of knowledge and skills to support and participate in the practice of rongoā Māori under broad guidance.
- will be able to take responsibility for their own learning and performance and will be able to apply knowledge fundamental to tikanga practice within rongoā Māori work, or study, and across the community in genera

Outline
This course will cover:
- Using a broad range of tikanga concepts and practices as an expression of mana ao tūroa.
- Using a broad range of reo and tikanga practices to enhance mana reo.
- Applying knowledge and understanding of tikanga, to identify and self-manage strengths and weaknesses as an expression of mana whenua.
- Evaluating own practice of tikanga, to identify and self-manage strengths and weaknesses as an expression of mana tangata.

Duration 40 weeks comprising 10 noho marae (1 per month) of 2 days duration
