New Zealand Certificate in Kaupapa Māori Public Health (Level 4)
Qualifications
This qualification is intended for those who are already working, or who are seeking to work, under broad guidance in the area of kaupapa Māori Public Health.
Graduates will be able to understand and explain a Kaupapa Māori Public Health perspective from social, economic, cultural and environmental contexts that contribute to the reduction of Māori health disparities.
This course provides a pathway to the NZ Certificate Public Health and Health Promotion L5 and other diploma and degree level courses in this and other fields. For example, Bachelor of Public Health.
This qualification complies with the eligibility for pay equity under the Government’s pay equity settlement scheme.
Outline
This course will cover:
- Māori public health strategies.
- Effective communication when working with whānau, hapu and iwi.
- Information sharing methods.
- Māori public health resources.

Duration: 20 weeks comprising 4 noho marae (1 per month) of 2 days duration
