Course Description:
Brief Outcome:
The major outcome of this programme is framed around the universal objectives of sound environmental education as follows: Awareness – to help whanau, hapu, Iwi and individuals acquire an awareness and sensitivity to Te Taiao and its allied problems. Knowledge – to help whanau, hapu, Iwi and individuals gain a variety of experience in, and acquire a basic understanding of, the environment and its associated problems. Attitudes – to help whanau, hapu, Iwi and individuals acquire a set of values and feelings of kaitiakitanga for Te Taiao and the motivation for actively participating in environmental improvement and protection. Skills – to help whanau, hapu, Iwi and individuals acquire the skills for identifying and solving environmental problems. Participation – to provide whanau, hapu, Iwi and individuals with an opportunity to be actively involved at all levels in working toward resolution of environmental problems. By successfully completing this programme akonga will be awarded the New Zealand Certificate in Maori Environment Practices (Kaupae 4)
